Web Design Project Description: Site should be a big shopping cart, showing off hundreds of goods. I have a client who needs a site showing goods for sale. The focus is bicycles. The website will be a catalog listing several hundred items. The front page should be colorful with plenty of banners and headlines. There will be photographs of bikes and other goods. Link the photos to pages that describe the bikes in detail. It's really just a big shopping cart. First layer is the front page described above. It will list about 40 categories of goods. A visitor will click on a category, such as "Bicycles" then go to a page listing different kinds of bikes. That is the second layer, with 40-60 pages breaking down the categories. There will be graphics as on the front page, but pages on the second layer will be filled mostly with copy telling more about the goods. Then, on the third layer, each page will show one item for sale, giving a final description or "Specs sheet." We don't need an order page. Our aim is not to sell online but to generate foot traffic. The store has a few thousand products for sale so the job may run to 800 pages with 600 links. Most pages will be short and simple.
